Summer Student Job Notice 2015

The John Humphrey Centre is recruiting a full time summer Human Rights Education Coordinator to support human rights education programming and youth voice.  This position will be for up to 40 hours per week starting May 4, 2015.  The rate of pay is between $15-$16/hour for up to 14 weeks.

Job responsibilities:

outreach to community organizations, summer camps and youth programs

assist in the development and delivery of workshops on human and children’s rights to children and youth in and beyond Edmonton while also collecting participant perspectives and recommendations to government in relations to children’s rights

coordinate and support volunteer human rights educators to deliver education programming

collection of data and information from program participants to support evaluation

compare and contrast youth perspectives to existing provincial legislation and policy

create a final report of recommendations and programming outcomes

assist in research and the creation of a strategy to develop municipal Children’s Charters

Job Requirements:

preferably university student in Education, Law, Social Sciences, Social Work or related field

candidate should be confident and have good organization, communication and presentation skills

experience in working with children and youth and delivering education programming

experience with google apps a bonus (gmail and googledocs)

knowledge and use of social media is a plus

must be willing to travel

access to transportation is a requirement
