Festival of Faiths
August 3, 2016
We are excited to announce that the John Humphrey Centre's Youth alumni Peacebuilders team is organizing the second Edmonton Festival of Faiths, which will be an interfaith event providing Edmontonians with an opportunity to learn about the different faiths, traditions and belief systems present in our city, from the people who actually practice them. There will also be interfaith panel discussions, performances, and presentations. With the aim of fostering a greater awareness and appreciation of Edmonton’s faith diversity, Festival of Faiths will be a safe, inclusive and welcoming space for Edmontonians of all backgrounds to reflect on faith diversity, community and compassion.
Here are the details:
Day 1: Saturday, September 24th, 7-9pm at Stanley Milner Theatre
Day 2: Sunday, September 25th, 10am-4pm, Boyle Street Community Plaza
This year's team is currently raising $2500 on CanadaHelps page. Proceeds will go towards the operations of this year's event, and if fortunate to have a surplus, to ensure that this event happens every year.
The first Festival of Faiths event was held last September 2015, with 18 faith group exhibits, two panel discussions, several performances and films on a day full of learning and discovery. It is wonderful to have all in the same room the representatives from the Unitarian Church, which was across the Atheist table, to hear a performance of songs from the Baha'i community, and hear a panel representative from the Islam and Falun Dama faith. With the aim of fostering a greater awareness and appreciation of Edmonton's faith diversity, Festival of Faiths will be a safe, inclusive and welcoming space for Edmontonians of all backgrounds to reflect on faith diversity, community and compassion.
